UBC Group joined by award winning Company

Earlier this week our company was strengthened, following the successful conclusion of the merger with the Bathgate and Inverness based painting and decorating firm, Mardon Project Services.

Speaking from the UBC Inverness office, the Chief Executive of the Group, James Pedrana said: “Over the years we have been adding skills and expertise to our company. I am delighted that the winner of the small employer of the year award 2007, is now an integral part of the UBC Group. Their inclusion adds further quality and they bring with them an excellent reputation in the construction industry. Our company is expanding from its base in the highlands and islands to the central belt of Scotland. Having Mardon as part of our company is hugely important. It strengthens our ability to continue delivering quality service in all parts of the country”

Managing director of Mardon Donald MacPhee said: “Over the years I’ve been approached by many large companies in the central belt wanting to do a deal with Mardon. But I never felt that they would best serve the interests of my company and staff.  I’m absolutely delighted to have done a deal with the UBC Group and look forward to working with the managing director, James Pedrana and his team. With Mardon as part of the UBC Group, we can now move forward and concentrate on taking the company to the next level”.

And James Pedrana added; “Under Donald MacPhee’s stewardship, Mardon’s excellence has been recognised - having recently been at Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister. The invitation to meet with Gordon Brown was in recognition of their commitment to the Modern Apprenticeship scheme. Mardon also represented the UK at the world skills final in Japan last year – clearly they are people who take pride in their work and staff”.

Mardon  was established ten years ago by Donald MacPhee from Lochmaddy, North Uist .  He was joined by his younger brothers Neil and Cyril who served their apprenticeships with him.  Over the years they were rewarded for their hard work and commitment and given key management roles within Mardon. Cyril is the director of the central division and recently Neil was appointed area director for the north division in Inverness. Mardon currently employs 80 people.
