UBC Group enjoy a strong start to 2012

Though the market continues to be challenging, the diversity of the Group has allowed us to take best advantage of the differing opportunities presenting themselves in the various regions and sectors we operate in throughout Scotland.

The evolving market has created increased contract opportunities in the civil engineering, renewables and refurbishment sectors. There has been movement in the pattern of opportunities and we enjoy significantly increased activity in the Hebrides and Central Belt of Scotland.

We have positioned ourselves to benefit from the major upturn in renewables. Our continuing work on the high profile Beauly-Denny HV transmission route is the largest civil engineering contract we have ever undertaken. We have been named preferred bidder for a community wind-farm project in the north of Scotland starting in the springtime, and have significantly grown our business installing microgeneration technologies such as heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar panels.

Our key construction projects include the largest ongoing affordable housing contract in the Western Isles, a number of affordable housing projects in Central Scotland, a major new care home on the Isle of Harris and several important upgrading work contracts including the refurbishment of a landmark listed church in the City of Edinburgh.

In recognition of our standing in the marketplace we enjoy increased tender opportunities and expect to announce further secured work in the coming weeks.
