Appointed to the Board as Contracts Director in 1980. James took the business, as project manager, to the Island of Lewis in 1986 and from there the company grew in turnover and staff from 30 people to 150 by 2001. Since arriving in Inverness in 2001 James has led and established Joint Venture Partnerships and stand-alone ventures which have again taken the Company forward in size and recognition in all areas. He was appointed to the Board as Chief Executive in September 2004.

Appointed as Finance Director in December 2006, Steve is responsible for UBC Group’s finance, HR, IT, QMS, and administration functions.
Steve joined UBC from Stewart Milne Construction where he was FD for a number of years. Previous roles include board positions with other major construction companies including Morrison Construction Highland and treasurer for McDermott’s European operations.
Steve has an honours degree from Aberdeen University, a postgraduate diploma in management studies from Robert Gordon University and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Appointed to the Board in October 2007. Alasdair, who’s from North Uist, is the Director of Marketing for the UBC Group. Between 1999 and 2007 he represented the Western Isles in the Scottish Parliament. For nine years prior to his career politics he worked for the BBC as a news and current affairs reporter. Since his appointment to the UBC Group Board he's been working with senior management on new business opportunities, and assisting the Company establish a base in the central belt of Scotland.
Appointed as Managing Director of Wyvis Building Services in June 2007. WBS formed as a merger between the UBC Group and Urquhart and Co (Plumbing and Heating), where Iain was a director since 2003. Iain spent 12 years working for BP in their contract energy management division covering all of Scotland, he was senior engineer for this division before he left to join the family business. A member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Iain has risen to the challenges set by the formation of a new division having expanded the plumbing department while setting up a new electrical section.
